Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide and transferred to Kataragama. En route, visit Ussangoda National Park. In the evening, visit the sacred Kataragama Temple.

According to the Ramayana, after meeting Sita Devi, Lord Hanuman decided to test the strength of King Ravana and his army of Rakshasas. During the confrontation, Hanuman's tail was set on fire by the Rakshasas. He then used the flames to burn several parts of Ravana's kingdom. Ussangoda is believed to be one of the places that was scorched during this event and is also said to have served as one of King Ravana's ancient airports.
The sacred Kataragama Temple is dedicated to Lord Karthikeya (Skanda/Subramaniam). According to Hindu tradition, Lord Indra requested Lord Karthikeya to enter the battlefield on the final day of the war to protect Lord Rama from the powerful Brahmastra launched by King Ravana. His divine presence rendered the weapon ineffective, safeguarding Lord Rama.
Three daily Pooja (worship) ceremonies are conducted at the temple. Visitors may participate by offering fruits, incense, flowers, and a small monetary donation. A portion of the offered fruits is traditionally returned to devotees as blessed offerings.
After breakfast, proceed to Nuwara Eliya. En route, visit Ella, Sita Amman Temple, Hakgala Botanical Garden, and Divurumpola Temple.

Located on the road to Hakgala Botanical Garden, the Sita Amman Temple is one of the most important Ramayana sites in Sri Lanka. The temple is believed to mark the place where Sita Devi was held captive by King Ravana. Beautiful statues, paintings, and sculptures throughout the temple depict scenes from the Ramayana.
According to legend, Hakgala was once one of King Ravana's pleasure gardens, where Sita Devi was kept during her captivity. It was here that Lord Hanuman met Sita and presented Lord Rama's ring as proof that Rama was searching for her.
Today, Hakgala Botanical Garden is one of Sri Lanka's finest botanical gardens, renowned for its beautiful landscapes and impressive collection of orchids and exotic plants.
Divurumpola is revered as the place where Sita Devi underwent the Agni Pariksha (Trial by Fire) to prove her purity before Lord Rama. The temple continues to be a sacred place where devotees offer prayers and make solemn vows.
Ella is a picturesque mountain village surrounded by lush forests, waterfalls, and breathtaking scenery. It is closely associated with several Ramayana legends, including Ravana Ella Falls and Ravana Cave, where King Ravana is believed to have hidden Sita Devi. The spectacular waterfall cascades from a height of over 1,000 feet, while the nearby cave is believed to have served as one of Ravana's secret hideouts.
After breakfast, travel to Kandy. En route, visit a tea plantation, tea factory, Ramboda Falls, and the Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple.
In Kandy, visit the sacred Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

Situated in the hills of Ramboda, where Lord Hanuman is believed to have searched for Sita Devi, the Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple was built by the Chinmaya Mission of Sri Lanka. It is one of the most important Hanuman temples in the country and attracts thousands of devotees each year.
The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is Sri Lanka's most revered Buddhist temple and houses the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha. Built during the 16th century, it is renowned for its magnificent Kandyan architecture, rich history, and spiritual significance.
After breakfast, proceed to Sigiriya. En route, visit a Spice Garden. Explore the magnificent Sigiriya Rock Fortress, Ritigala, and Cobra Hood Cave.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sigiriya Rock Fortress is one of Sri Lanka's most iconic landmarks. Rising nearly 600 feet above the surrounding plains, the fortress features impressive palace ruins, landscaped gardens, water gardens, and the world-famous Sigiriya Frescoes. It is often referred to as the "Fortress in the Sky."
Ritigala is an ancient forest monastery with over 70 caves that have been used by monks for centuries. According to the Ramayana, this mountain is believed to be one of the fragments that fell from the Himalayas when Lord Hanuman carried the mountain containing medicinal herbs to save Lakshmana during the great battle.
Named for its distinctive cobra-shaped rock formation, Cobra Hood Cave is traditionally believed to be one of the places where Sita Devi was kept in captivity. Ancient inscriptions and prehistoric cave paintings can still be seen within the cave, adding to its historical and legendary significance.
After breakfast, depart for Chilaw to visit Munneswaram Temple and Manavari Temple.

The ancient Munneswaram Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is believed to predate the Ramayana. According to legend, after defeating King Ravana, Lord Rama felt burdened by the sin of killing a Brahmin king. Seeking redemption, he stopped at Munneswaram to worship Lord Shiva.
Following Lord Shiva's guidance, Lord Rama installed the first of four sacred Shiva Lingams at Manavari Temple to free himself from Brahmahatya Dosha. This sacred Lingam is known as Ramalinga Shivan and is regarded as the first Shiva Lingam installed by Lord Rama. The remaining Lingams are located at Thirukoneswaram, Thiruketheeswaram, and Rameswaram in India.

According to the Ramayana epic, this temple marks the exact location of the Ashok Vatika. It is believed to be the place where King Ravana held Goddess Sita captive, and where she was finally discovered by Lord Hanuman.

The temple is free to enter, though donations are welcome. As it is a highly sacred Hindu site, visitors must dress modestly, ensuring shoulders and knees are covered. You will also need to remove your shoes before entering the temple grounds.
